MasterplanDate: 2010 Location: Laguna Carén - Santiago, Chile Site Area: 182.000 hectares Building Area: 36.000 mt2 Status: Proposal Architect: Nicolas Loi - www.loi.cl / Gregorio Vasquez Lake Carén appears as a “Public Park” project, which was designed for family, educational, sporting and outdoor recreational activities. The plan envisages five main areas/parks. 1.-The Automobile Park that focuses on acting as a space for sporting events, chiefly involving cars; with its showrooms, exhibition and competition tracks as well as technical training and coaching areas related to this industry. 2.-A park for trade fairs, events and conventions as a venue for holding large trade fairs or exhibitions at an international as well as domestic level. It has three convention halls covering an area of 10,000 m2, with Lake Carén as the central and connecting point. 3.-The Interactive Ecological Park is an open-air space that invites visitors to get in direct contact with the natural bounties of Lake Carén. Areas for a wide range of sporting and recreational activities abound, including: a rodeo stadium, stables, an educational farm and activities such as horse-riding, canopy, rock-climbing among others provide this place with the air of a complete outdoor community. 4.- A Sports Park with infrastructure such as: tennis, football as well as designed for mass and open scheduled activities together with the educational activities of the community in mind. 5.-The Family Recreation Park is on the edge of Lake Carén and it is designed as a family-oriented space for open-air activities such as: cycling, picnic areas, gastronomic centers and a restricted area for dinghies and boats besides large grassy areas. An ambitious project designed for a thriving community close to the Chilean capital city. |
